The Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) for Physical Chemistry specialized Cryo-Electron Microscopy in the Department of Physical Chemistry to be filled as soon as possible. This professorship is also particularly suitable for highly qualified early career researchers. We are looking for an internationally recognized personality with experience in interdisciplinary and inter-faculty research in the field of cryo-electron microscopy and cryo-tomography. The research of the professorship should be interdisciplinary and contribute to the methodological development of cryo-electron microscopy and cryo-tomography. The professorship will work on current research topics, including in connection with the existing Cluster of Excellence CIBSS. The professorship will also support the excellence strategy in the field of integrative biological signaling research. One possible research topic is the structure and dynamics of signaling complexes. In teaching, the field of physical chemistry must be fully represented, in particular (statistical) thermodynamics, kinetics, electrochemistry, spectroscopy and quantum chemistry. Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
